Host Rebecca Foster sits down with an inspiring community builder, entrepreneur, and changemaker — Lohifa Pogoson Acker.
An award-winning leader based in Hamilton, Lohifa is the founder of LoDidThat, where she blends cultural heritage with modern hairstyling to celebrate diversity and textured hair artistry. Born in Lagos, Nigeria and raised across multiple continents, her global experiences shaped her deep commitment to cross-cultural understanding, service, and inclusion.
With an academic background in neuroscience and health systems, Lohifa previously worked in international development before turning her focus to entrepreneurship and local impact. She later founded Excel In Style, a non-profit initiative dedicated to empowering Black and racialized youth through education, hair care, and community support — organizing large-scale events that have provided free haircuts and styling to hundreds of young people.
Her leadership extends across Hamilton’s civic and business communities. She serves on the boards of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, the Hamilton Foundation for Student Success, and The Hamilton Club, and contributes to the YWCA Hamilton Philanthropy and Communications Committee.
Recognized with honours including Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2020), the Order of Hamilton (2023), and the King Charles III Coronation Medal (2025), Lohifa continues to champion youth development, wellness, and inclusive growth — leading with vision, heart, and purpose.
